On January 30, 1969, Fidel CASTRO inaugurates the new "Niña Bonita" agricultural facilities located in Marianao in the province of Havana. In this farm, genetic experiments are tested on cattle as well as avant-garde facilities such as air conditioning, music during milking, mechanization, with the ultimate goal:
the best bovine breeds; the greatest milk production. During his speech, Fidel CASTRO gives a course in
genetics, explaining the need to have a herd of "red" cows: "with the Cuban climatic conditions the red color is more resistant to heat ... and red cows give more milk". A real estate complex has also been built in Machurucutu to accommodate the new farm workers: academics, geneticists, agricultural engineers, farm workers.
