Wriiten by the Canadian-born writer Gerald Wilson who later lived in England;and collaborated closely with the English writer, film-maker and director Robert Michael Winner.-also known as Arnold Crust- who directed and produced CHATO'S LAND (with the help of the English actor and cinematographer Robert William Paynter).
The movie was shot at Cabo de Gata and several locations of Almeria desert (Andalucia, SPAIN) in 1971.

Τhe name of the hero CHATO PARDON is directly connected with the film GATTOPARDO (1963), starring Burt Lancaster with whom Bronson played in the movie APACHE (or BRONCO APACHE, 1954). .
The movie is also lik=nked with an episode of "Gunsmoke" called "CHATO" (1970) and filmed Bronson Canyon (Los Anfgeles, California) starring Ricardo Montalban.
