Muley Ismail Ibn Sharif was a man who ruled Morocco with an iron grip for fifty-five years between 1672 to 1727. He is recorded as having built legendary palaces never-before-seen in Moroccan history; defeated the might of the Spanish empire; fathered 800 children and executed up to 20,000 of his own subjects! But is there more about the great monarch we are not being told, and WHY?
