In this first confession of more than two hours, Fellini mischievously approaches the story of his youth and his beginnings.
After the success of La dolce vita, Belgian television offered Fellini to devote a series of programs to him. The filmmaker accepted
and suggested that his French friend and assistant, Dominique Delouche, conduct all the interviews. André Delvaux took care of the editing.
Divided into four parts, the program tells the story of Fellini through his own eyes and those of his close collaborators. Many memories
will reappear, staged in future films, from Huit et demi, Amarcord to Roma. This highlights a theme dear to Fellini, that of biographical invention.
The original version of Fellini presented many film excerpts. Its distribution and exploitation had become impossible for copyright reasons.
In its current re-edition, the excerpts have been replaced by photographs. The overall length has been reduced from three hours to
Episode 1, 35’: his childhood, his beginnings
Episode 2, 30’: his first films
Episode 3, 34’: his films with Giulietta Masina
Episode 4, 31’: La Dolce Vita and neorealism
