Для этого были задействованы 70 установок 449-го отдельного салю́тного дивизиона, включая новую самоходную пусковую установку 2А85 на базе КамАЗа. Салю́тные установки были размещены на 14 площадках, в частности на Поклонной горе, в Митино, Нагатино, Отрадном, Солнцево, Южном Бутово, нескольких парках, в том числе "Измайловском" и "Кузьминках", а также в город-спутнике Зеленограде. Все площадки запуска располагались вдали от жилых домов, что позволило отправлять заряды на высоту от 100 до 300 м.
