Cuba welcomes the Soviet Navy. The crowd gathers at the port, while
Commander Fidel CASTRO goes to the main frigate and meets the navigating personnel, including the admiral-in-chief. The multiple shots of the warship are followed by the exchange of military
salutes between members of the Cuban government and officers of the Soviet Navy. Then come the images of visits to the Capitol of Havana, a H. Upmann cigar factory, the house of José Martí and the active participation of Cuban and Soviet officials in the sugar cane harvest. Excerpts from the film "Battleship Potemkin" suggest a parallel with the Soviet armed fleet and contrast with photos and archival documents of American marines
in positions of power and humiliation (photos with prostitutes hiding, officers
and bourgeois on an American ship).
