A documentary epic on magical healing in the Himalayas In great detail the film pursues the main features of the Inner Asian tradition of shamanism,
as preserved amongst the Northern Magar, a hill tribe in central West Nepal. Guided by the
chanted myths of the local shamans, the film projects contemporary religious practices onto
the background of primordial events. Daily activities blend into ancestral stories. Part One focuses on lavish rituals as performed by Magar healers in the course of nightlong séances.
