Harry Norvell's plan to enter a talent contest with his pal Sydney Jefferson as Laurel and Hardy impersonators are hit by the inconsiderate death of his mother-in-law, whose funeral as it turns out is on the day of the contest. With his wife in no mood to let him leave, he decides to sneak out at night, but little imagines what else will obstruct them when they encounter a drunken woman in the street...
Starring Ronnie Barker, Roy Castle, Pauline Delaney, Avis Bunnage, Margery Mason, Dennis Ramsden, Pearl Hackney and Sally Brelsford. This is the 5th of 7 pilots starring Ronnie Barker and one of the more unusual ones. While it's understandable how this never made it as a series, it is thankfully not as bad as I feared, though it is unusual to hear Barker in a American accent. It stands up better as a one off comedy and in this it's not half bad at all. Oh, and one bit of trivia for you: the surnames that Barker and Castle's characters have were actually part of the real names of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.
