A wonderful story about the life of Jim Bowie (JAMES BONDWIN) at the Arcadia plantation of New Orleans, before his arrival in Texas and his death at the Battle of Alamo (his brother seems to have invented the famous Bowie Knife which is called in the film by the name "THE IRON MISTRESS").
The story is based on the novel THE IRON MISTRESS (1951), written by the journalist -author, expert in writing Western novels for Old West- and historian Paul Iselin Wellman.
THE WΗOLE TEXT OF THE BOOK:

Adapted for the wide screen by the author and screenwriter James Ruffin Webb.
Produced by Heinz (Henry) Blanke.
Filmed in California, the movie is directed by Gordon Douglas (Brickner), who in 1955 directed the biopic THE McCONNELL STORY, also starring Alan Ladd.
Music by Max Steiner.
The film belongs to a strange series of movies -with their plot focused in New Orleans- that deal with the archetype idol of James Bond (a role played, for example, by Alan Ladd and Clark Gable): eminent among them, is the 1939's film GONE WITH THE WIND and the 1957's film BAND OF ANGELS.
