When I posted this show a few days ago I said that I was unsure of the source. After a little more research I have realised that the details I gave are in fact incorrect. This is NOT the show from April 20 but an audio-only version of the April 21 concert, available elsewhere in video versions.
As I pointed out, this recording sounds like the audio from a TV broadcast which I found puzzling as it was unlikely both the April 20 and 21 shows were televised. The cause of my confusion was this: I had audio files dated 1982-04-20 and 1982-04-21 which were obviously different, with different timings and a different sound mix. Now I realise that the 1982-04-20 recording was mis-dated and is in fact the audio from the televised show from the 21st, and the audio files with that date were an audience recording of the same show. Once I realised this, and did a quick comparison, it was obviously a duplication of the same material from different sources. Also, as is pointed out in the thread below, the concert was broadcast by London Weekend Television, not by the BBC. Apologies for the confusion- I'm going to leave this show up, as an alternative to the video version. I shall keep a look out for a genuine April 20th show.
From my previous notes:
"... here is Miles's comeback band from the first [sic] of three nights at London's Hammersmith Odeon. Apparently Miles was in very poor health when he arrived the day before and almost called off the concert. In the end he played the concert seated and audibly struggles, but there are enough glimpses of genius to make it worthwhile and his young band sound energetic and inspired. The sound is fairly good, mono and quite hissy but everything comes across clearly enough, especially Miller's springy bass."
