Band recording by Dave Liebman
A very good sounding tape, apparently made by saxophonist Dave Liebman, from Miles's 1974 tour of Brazil. This comes from the spottily documented period when Miles was using three (!) guitarists, with the addition of the French Hendrix-inspired Dominique Gaumont. As might be expected, the sound palette here is more dense than usual, along the lines of that year's Dark Magus album. Fortunately, the superior sound quality (Liebman used two Sony Nakamich 1700 microphones, running to a Sony cassette recorder) allows everything to come through with a good deal of clarity, unlike many of the often scrappy bootleg tapes made that year.
The untitled original, numbered 740419 in discographies, was first performed at San Francisco's Keystone Korner on April 19, 1974 and would turn up in the set until the final gigs of the following summer, before Miles's temporary retirement.
