Colored pencil drawing of Kanika, an Amur leopard who was the first born for her mother Kaia with her partner Akin at Marwell Wildlife in Britain.
Kanika, whose name means ‘gold’ in Sanskrit, is about five months old in this drawing (reference photo taken by Chris Godfrey in October 2014). This summer she was moved to Santa Barbara Zoo in California, where there is a future mate for her. (A local sponsor family has given Kanika the name "Ajax" for show purposes at Santa Barbara Zoo.)
Amur leopards are one of the world’s most endangered species, with only about 70 in the wild in their natural habitat in Russia’s Far East.
I currently have this drawing for sale on my website (
