This is from our November 2014 trip to Grand Bahia Tulum in Riviera Maya, Mexico. The hotel is about 2 hr drive from the airport with direct transfer, which I would recommend. We used USA Transfers. The resort is huge so expect to do some walking or you can wait for the gold cart vehicles that can transfer you within or between the Grand Bahia resorts. The resort is beautiful, and well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful. The buffets had plenty of food, however it was the same type of food which can get kind of tired after a few days. A la cart restaurants were great just the reservation desk really sucked. Took forever to book a la cart restaurants, the girl at the reservation desk was not that helpful. She made is seem that they were booked for the times that we requested and when we walked by the restaurants they were not even at 20% capacity. Alcohol was ok, nothing great, we ended up drinking more cappuccinos since these were good.
Positives: Clean, well manicured, plenty of food, food is good at both buffet and a la cart restaurants. There is a lot of fish in the ocean, which is great fro snorkeling.
Negatives: You got to pay for the safe's lock ($5 per day), walkways are not covered so you will get wet if it rains. There is an umbrella in the closet, we did not have one, requested it at the from desk but never got one. A la cart service desk was not very helpful. The safe swimming zone in the ocean was very shallow.
Would I go back? Yes
