In the memecoin sector of the crypto space, Murad Mahmudov has become a notable and controversial figure. Once known as a Bitcoin maximalist, he has transitioned to being a strong advocate for memecoins, often referred to as the "Memecoin King" or "Memecoin Jesus." He promotes the idea of a "memecoin supercycle," a period of extended growth in memecoins' popularity and value, and regularly shares his top picks with his large social media following.
Murad has been associated with 11 Ethereum and Solana wallets that reportedly hold over $24 million in memecoins. On-chain investigator ZachXBT linked these wallets to Murad, citing shared funding sources and his public promotion of specific tokens. The timing of some transactions raised questions about potential market manipulation, as in one case where a large token purchase occurred shortly before Murad publicly endorsed it.
Murad views memecoins as a natural evolution of the crypto market, emphasizing their appeal to community-building, fun, and profit-making rather than technological innovation. He has drawn parallels between memecoins and the 2017 ICO boom, predicting substantial growth for memecoins in the future, including the potential for some to achieve multi-billion-dollar market caps.
