This excellent cover of The Bee Gees´ hit “I Started A Joke” (written for Robin Gibb in 1968) is included in Benny Mardones´first album “Thank God For Girls”, in 1978, produced by legendary Andrew Loog Oldham (Rolling Stones´early producer) and released on Private Stock Records Label.
This album, only available on vinyl for many years, is considered a rare AOR since Private Stocks Records went broke shortly after its release and besides, it has the pecularity of putting together an outstanding group of american and british musicians including Ron Frangipane (arrangements & keyboards), Joey Stann (saxophone), Jerry Shirley (drums) and the unforgetable guitar of Mick Ronson.
No official video or live recording exists. This is a home video made with admiration and respect, it is not intended to infringe any copyright. No profit will be made from this video.
THIS GOES TO ALL WHO LOVE REMEMBERING THOSE TIMES WHEN THERE WERE NO TRICKS IN MUSIC, JUST HUNGER AND TALENT.
