this is about the mutiny of 1857 , if you want to see why it failed just see this movie it shows how retarded indians were then , it’s more empathetic to English trapped in India than the mutineers who look like marauding thugs !
This is a joke with most perverse music and hysterical characters and terrible patriotic songs , and even casting is a mess ,first amir cast aishwaria , after she broke with salman all khans boycotted her , so amrita was cast , she is playing an Indian widow saved from sati and romances captain Gordon , with a north indian accent she simply cannot act , the whole event of her being rescued is hilariously badly filmed !
the east india company must have had it so easy with idiots like amir employed as mangal pandey by the company commanders mostly Zionists ,in one sequence mangal fights a kabadi with captain Gordon his friend whose life he saves in the afghan campaign , showing the English were fair , the captain who opposes him looks more convincing in the match than amir khan !
Gordon is a lower cast English man and he is anti English himself which is hard to believe!
Amir plays the role with a moustache that covers his entire face so no problem either with expressions being any problem!

movie is simply terribly directed by ketan Mehta, its got continuity problems throuhout , only its better than Devgan horror bhagat singh ,that is the most boring historic ever made , this is total rubbish which is unable to show why the mutiny happened! ‘
The cartridge affair is briefly shown and entangled with opium export to China ! Indians are shown as pimps on sale to highest bidders and they are a rabble with no character no wonder English as a disciplined race were able to rule them !
The idea of using pig and cow fat in cartridges is trivial when the Indian soldiers are killing fellow Indian children and women the cartridges make no sense and I think it was not the real reason behind mutiny this was only an excuse to bring India under empire itself !
Ketan Mehta does not go into any detail or depth just the same old repetitive nonsense and brings nothing to the absurd tale of mutiny itself !
One song dance with gypsy nocturnal party ambience and seduction sequences is good rest of soundtrack is a waste by mr Rahman ! The holi song is simply terrible so is the Muslim qawali at a shrine ! How this transpired Is a team failure no one seems interested and script is incoherent and dialogues are simply dumb !
rani is a tawaif who loves amir as the great Indian revolutionary ,she spies for him as she sleeps with white english soldiers as a patriotic duty , they keep singing pointless songs on elephants for no reason ,acting is over the top and every single character shouts and distorts their faces ,
its this era in bollywood where overacting was considered good acting , now they simply dont act at all just look at their cothes and hairstyles and the results show on screen , but its really sad to make a great indian hero look like a clown and amir succeeded in doing so ,the history is incorrect , whole meerut revolt distorted , and the actresses are terrible , why will a memsaab from england love a bloody revolutionary , same bullshit as in lagaan , they call amir perfectionist , / what does he do to deserve the title of mr perfectionist , i will be damned lmao , indians have the most weird marketing campaigns ,he is not a fraction of dilip , Ashok , Dev , Rajesh khanna , Raj kumar even Naseer or Nana Patekar !
