Considered by many to be the first heavy metal band, Black Sabbath was formed in 1968 by Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward. Many vocalists would front the band throughout their career and this album, Cross Purposes, released in 1994 had Tony Martin on vocals. This album was a fan let down for those expecting to see Ronnie James Dio appear on this release since his reunion with the band in 1992 spawned the album Dehumanizer. Tony would release one more studio album with the band, titled Forbidden, in 1995 and then embark on a solo career as well as many other projects. Sabbath would reunite with Ozzy Osbourne for the live album Reunion and tour off and on and eventually a new album with Ozzy would be released in 2013, simply titled 13.
