We encounter fake profiles on almost every platform. Some can be identified within seconds, others are so well done that they look deceptively real. Maintaining a false identity requires a lot of time, coordination and effort. Fakes often cultivate personal relationships with other people, even give them gifts, take care of them and support them in difficult situations. Nevertheless, they are usually considered as the ‚bad guys‘. But is that really the case?
