However today it is hard for me to keep quite. The pain i am feeling is not only my pain - it's everyone's pain. This is a mutual loss andan unspeakable tragedy....
Today I lost a friend. Lost a close friend who was like a brother to me... I will always remember you as a person who would never leave his friends in trouble or sorrow. You always knew how to be supportive, and give a good advise or just be there. .. You were a wonderful human being with a winning smile and big charisma! You brought out the best in people....
Today I lost a friend! But Israel lost a soldier, combat officer, a leader.. A leader that lead his soldiers with courage and an clear intent to win... You protected our holy land... with your pure soul.
Friends, today a flower was picked off.. A flower that will forever remain in our memories and will never die...
Dimka, there is so much I want to say to you...
Miss you..."
I posted this yesterday on FB, and decided to translate it to english almost word for word for the purpose of letting people know what it's like to live in Israel, based on my own example.
I was born in Donetsk, a city that is now also under fire.
People of Israel experience it for years now .. I want to show the world that our families, mothers, fathers are living in constant fear for their sons that serve in the army and might die in any given moment...
I know about war not from stories. I served my country for three years in the Israeli Marine forces and saw what hell looks like - its the hell where my friend Dmitry Levitas died. Most of my serving time i spent in the "hot" areas in Israel where war is happening, and for my 26 years of life i saw a lot...
But this is not about me, but about thousands of soldiers that are performing their duty to their country!! Its about families who are loosing their sons, brothers, fathers...
But nobody is showing how the Israelis live... How our children are spending the summer in bomb shelters under daily rocket fire from the Hamas. Children that can't be just children. Nobody's arguing that there are peaceful people in Gaza. But Hamas is to blame for their suffering that is the chosen government in Gaza. Hamas is using their own people as shields by planting the rocket launchers in schools, hospitals and highly populated areas in Gaza. All that is for the purpose of preventing the back fire from Israel.
How would Putin, Obama or any other leader react if his citizens were under rocket fire? Would they just have it?
Israel has the right yo defend it self!! And the price for this right is high for both sides. Israel wants peace!
He is willing to help the people of Gaza by sending them humanitarian aid.. But as long as Gaza is controlled by terrorists they are depriving their people of that help. They use the money and resources to build tunnels to get in to Israel to kill ! In this way two IDF soldiers were killed, Gilad Shalit was kidnapped . He spent in captivity
5 years and for his release 1024 (!) terrorists were released from prison to only go back to do what they were doing... And that is just one example out of many. In 2005 Israel left Gaza completely as it was demanded by the people of Gaza, as a sign of it's desire for peace. And even after this Hamas is acquiring rockets from their supporters to go on and keep bombing Israeli cities!!
How can we talk about peace if everything Hamas does is just the opposite of it? ?? Quoting "we love death more then jews love life and we are willing to die in the name of Djihad and Allah"
Israel wants peace, but it is ready to fight for it's right yo exist, to exist on iT'S OWN holy land and to provide this peace for it's people.
I understand that some people won't agree with it and that is their right. But i also know that there are a lot of people who will understand that basic concept.
Please share this post so that the world could see the other side of the coin that is being shown on the news.!!!
At least i will know that Dmitry, like many others, did not die in vain...
These last words i am writing with pouring tears, because war is not fair there is only a constant fight for life... For the lives of our parents, brothers, sons...

יהיה זכרו ברוך!
В битвах погибшим с Хамасом проклятым,
Спите спокойно вас помним и чтим,
В сердце мы память о вас сохраним...
R.I.P.
