Musika and Film Scores - A Colonial era - Adventure Land - The last days of Edén - Paradise
Comment: Today and, within our music selections, «On a tour of History» once the selection we have made for «The Old West» is finished, we are going to open a new content folder that, inside the folder generic «Tierra de aventuras» from «A colonial era», we are going to call it «The last days of Eden». In this way then, and as I told you, on that comfortable transatlantic where we are going to go around the world, having departed from the «Old Europe» and having already visited «The Old West», without further ado we continue our itinerary bordering the Atlantic Ocean and, in this time of adventures, we will travel further south, there, to the South American jungle, where paradise already welcomes us. wait. And in it, I can tell you that we will be able to enjoy a delicatessen selection that I personally love. So much so that I have listened to it a thousand times, and in particular, one of the compositions, since I confess it, is my pretty girl Let’s see, if you can guess which one.
Therefore, let us put ourselves in a situation, and thus, sweetened by southern music, let us walk with the heat and humidity through the montera, among those beaches with turquoise waters, and whose walk discovers us among the exuberant flora of the jungle, hidden towns of dark and brown indigenous people, who with only tapaculos for dresses, tell us about a hidden civilization where among the deafening noise of hundreds of toucans, hides from the current world, not remaining among the overflowing vegetation, more than a quadrangular pyramid and erected in honor of I don’t know what god.
What, are you already in the mood? Well, let’s start with their parallel musical world, and let me tell you that, how could it be otherwise than, together with the duo John Barry and Jerry Goldsmith and others, I will ask you to vote for the soundtrack of the film that better fits the name of this play-list «Paradise». For this reason, and as far as possible by diversifying the options, you will find surprising composers who, due to their music, at first, you could not expect. But wich ones?
Thus, we began, in the year 1959 by the hand of the British composer Ron Goodwin and his «Whirlpool» And already, out of the blue, 6 years later, we find ourselves with the first, for this genre, of our fetish composers, the Californian, Jerry Goldsmith, and who, at once, offers us three of his compositions: «First victory» in 1965, «Room222», four years later in 1969 and for a television series. And finally, in 1973, a film that exalted him, because apart from being a bombshell, it was nominated for an Oscar for best soundtrack. The name of that movie was called, «Papillon» And from it, we are going to enjoy a long 6-minute «Suite».
And after listening to this first part of the selection, we do not place it in the middle of the fruitful 70s, to, in 1974, offer you a most Hispanic intermezzo. And it is that, the naturalist Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente and by the hand of the Aragonese composer Antón García Abril, on Spanish television inaugurated a series of American episodes with wild fauna as leitmotif and that, just by listening to the first chords you will identify, » The man and the earth» To what, yes?
Let’s leave this rhythmic sound, then, and we are going to travel to these paradisiacal lands at the hands of the other composer who, as I mentioned at the beginning of the recommendation, is going to be the other fighter for whom we will have to vote, the British John Barry, and is that in 1976, he composed this marvel for the movie «King Kong» and, for which, he already deserves to be in our survey. So from her, we are going to listen to three fragments «Arrival to the island», «Perhaps my luck has changed!» and finally a 7-minute «Suite».
And so, as I was saying, we will end the fruitful decade of the 70s, firstly, meeting again with the maestro Jerry Goldsmith who in 1977 composed the music for the soundtrack of «La isla del adiós», and finally, with the incorporation, in 1979 and in our selection, by the American composer, Elmer Bernstein, and his «Saturn III»
And in this way, we jump to the 80s where, on this occasion, we are going to find 3 films: The first in 1983, by the Australian composer Trevor Jones and his «Pirates of the Wild Islands». again to the Californian Jerry Goldsmith, who in 1986 left us his «Link» And, we will end the decade, with the French Georges Delerue who, in 1989, offered us his «His alibi»
And after three decades, finally, we enter the 90’s In which, we will start in 1991, with the score of an American composer Basil Poledouris and his «Return to the Blue Lagoon». And, finally, we arrive, for me, at the best composition of this bucolic setting, since he not only draws this with notes, but also paints the score, with an extreme sensitivity that recreates nature in its maximum splendor. The composer, of course, the maestro Jerry Goldsmith, who recalling the sounds of the previous folder «Valverde» in
the year 1992, I encumber this, with the soundtrack of the film «The last days of Eden» And, of which I am going to offer you, neither more nor less than, a very extensive suite of almost 20 minutes duration. There is nothing. So enjoy this marvel.
And so, with these «last days of Eden» we are reaching the end, offering you only two small fragments of two scores that, after the year 2000, push us towards today. The first is from 2001 by the composer Conrad Pope and his «Women’s Pavilion» and, finally, the last one is from the 2013 film «Escape from Tomorrow», by the Polish composer Abel Korzeniowski and from which we will hear the fragment «The Doors of tomorrow»
And with that, we close this wonderful suite, full of a sensual sound that stuns us, and envelops us in that great green space, which is the tropical jungle. Magnificent selection! of more than an hour of duration and of which, now, it only remains for you to enjoy it.
For this reason, you know, I leave you the link of the play-list under the cover, as well as the O link, to enjoy the article that we have published in the
